Over at the blog From The Right Bank, there is a design challenge to find your style in a picture. So here's mine. This room has the mix of modern and classic that I love. It also has a neutral background with color layered on top that I find appealing. So I guess I should come clean and say this is a showhouse room I did a few years ago. My goal for this room was to design a setting that would show my style as I designer.

How pretty! I love your color scheme - the pops of red and blue and that gray/red on the round table are gorgeous. I also love that mirror! Thanks so much for participating in my challenge!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my page. I agree on the mix of modern * classic. I would love to see more of what looks like a wonderful console table next to sofa!
I notice the mix of styles, but I also observe the use of color. This looks like you for sure. What I notice is how the colors are not repeated. Like the area rug strong blue is no where else in the room. My tendency, and I think most peoples tendency, is to repeat a color or variation of the same color, like for instance with blue pillows on the sofa perhaps. Why do I give in to formulas? I need to break out. That is the take-away for me and what I learn in studying your work.
